A popular South Indian snack, Semiya Upma is ideal for a quick breakfast.
Ingredients
1 cup Semiya/Vermicelli
1 onion (sliced)
1 inch ginger (chopped)
1 carrot (shredded)
1 green chilli (chopped)
1 stalk of curry leaves
1 tsp mustard
1 tablespoon oil
Salt to taste
How To
Heat the oil in a pan and splutter mustard seeds. Add onion, ginger, green chilli, curry leaves and sauté until onions turn translucent. Add the shredded carrot and sauté for a couple of minutes. Now add the semiya/vermicelli and sauté for a couple of minutes. Add 1 ½ cup of water and salt and cook covered until the water is absorbed. Semiya upma is ready to be served.
