This post is about two different dishes and two different recipes. If you have them separate with other dishes, these are just so-so, but its an absolute gastronomical delight when u pair them together!
Now, about the butter chicken, there is this lady in Chennai Food Guide (an fb group I am part of) by name Anisa Arif who creates and sells special spice blends. After drooling away at the pictures posted by satisfied clients in this forum, I finally decided to order some Butter Chicken and Al-Faham masala and try it for myself. Now I usually make rotis to go with butter chicken. But as soon as I opened the spice packet, the aroma was characteristic of a restaurant style dish and hence I decided to make butter naans instead. And as usual I turned to the stack of recipes I have collected over the years from various magazines and luckily found one that looked quite straightforward and easy.
Ingredients
2 cups of maida
1/2 cup milk (lukewarm)
1/2 cup curd
3/4 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 tablespoon sugar
1/4 teaspoon salt
How To
Mix together the dry ingredients and make a well in the center. Add the milk and curd and combine to form a soft dough. I added the liquid ingredients slowly to ensure that the dough remained soft and not sticky. So keep a check while adding the curd and milk. Place the dough in a vessel and cover with a damp cloth and keep aside for two hours.
Take out the dough after two hours and knead for a couple of minutes before dividing it into equal sized balls. Dust you work surface and roll out one ball thickly in an elongated shape. Heat a tawa till really hot. Now lower the heat to medium and place the naan on it. Brush some ghee on the top side and once the under side starts to brown(about a minute), turn it over and cook covered for half a minute. Uncover and flip over for a couple of seconds and remove from the tawa and place on a serving plate. Brush some butter on the naan and serve hot with a side dish of your choice.
Notes: The butter chicken prepared with the special masala was yum and the recipe for the same is available at https://www.facebook.com/ZaiqaTheSpiceStore?fref=ts …
